A day of dolphins

A day of dolphins

Today was a calm day out on Monterey Bay and it seemed as our wake attracted hundreds of White-sided and Northern Right Whale Dolphins. The spectacle went on for more than 30 minutes, as dozens of dolphins surrounded the boat, with many more in the distance. It was one of the moments so great to watch I didn’t entirely focus on getting photos, but based on these results of only 30 frames, I’ll be more focused next time!

That’s a Northern Right Whale Dolphin in the front and a White-sided Dolphin in the back!

Oh and birds, yeah we saw some of them too, particular lots of Pink-Footed Shearwaters and Sabine’s Gulls.

And TWO Tufted Puffins!

And the biggest photographic miss of the day and why I’m thinking about a 7D:

And of course the rest of the day’s photos are at the end of the Monterey Bay Album. I think albums by date are going to be needed.
